copied from Justins....
I am so sorry to be posting this. One of our very best has succumbed to injuries suffered in a crash, Saturday night, at the Fuel Altered World Finals at Eddyville raceway in Iowa. This is a note from our Outlaw Fuel Altered Association leadership:
We are saddened to report our friend Tim Hay, crashed in the final round of a race in Eddyville, Iowa on Saturday night, and has died from injuries sustained in that crash. Eyewitnesses reported the car was on a good run and about 300' smoked the tires, went sideways and ran head on into the guardrail, rolling several times. Tim was a big part of our group and a friend to all who knew him. We will miss his enthusiasm for life and great sense of humor. This is a note we wish we would never have to write. We will get back to you when we know more.
RIP

I never met the man....or saw the car in action but it is obvious that all the posts and messages I have read on the net and over at the fuel altered board that he was loved by everyone and truly will be missed.
RIP

KG....thanks for your insight into Tim's situation. I'm sure his family will know it's for the good of all to try to understand exactly what happened and try to find solutions so it doesn't happen again. kinda like buying the insurance after the barn burns, but at times that's the nature of our sport. after reading most of the text regarding this, i'm leaning toward some type of chassis breakage as the root cause. for a tire to be that far laid over it totally out of sync. no doubt that the tire shake was a contributing factor as well, but once it's up on a fence or guard rail not much good can come from it. again, thanks for giving the rest of us some perspective. Tim would want us to move forward, eh?!
