we're planning on it. stay tuned..... so it seems the only thing I've gotten right this year is breaking my son's heart! the plan was to fire it Monday and finish the rest of the heap on Tuesday. the only thing i had left to do on the motor was install the rocker assembly and run the valves, no big deal, eh?! I've only done this for the past 50 years or so. wrong! seems that I've forgotten how to build motors for some reason. when i rolled it around to set #3, it locked up. kinda like a valve hitting a piston or contacting the head gasket, etc. at any rate it wasn't gonna work. mind ya the only difference was a different cam and some pushrods we replaced on the intake side. the cam's a non-issue, it's degreed correctly so the main focus became the pushrods. granted, they're about .040 longer but still shouldn't have been a problem. we've had an issue with the intake side galling even when i lube them between rounds, and since moving to the BAE heads it looked like the rocker wasn't properly aligned with the valve stem. bottom line is this......I'm not gonna put him in a hot rod that's not right any longer. we've always tried to make the show at any cost but that's a done deal now. frankly, i don't have the $$$$$$ just to toss it away with something i know isn't correct. i know Shawn's upset over this decision but it's the right course of action to take. it may be just changing the rocker stands to move the intake rocker into alignment with the valve. it might require new intake rockers.....the exhaust is just fine and never causes any problems. we're gonna make sure everything in the valve train geometry works the way it should. i'm pretty sure new or rebuilt pushrods are in order, and the ones we run from Manton are about $40 bucks a piece. Motry can adjust the length on ours, and we have some really long units that can be cut down when we find the right length. so, even thought all of us here want to be out there with all of you, it's not productive to try and run what we know is a really good combination with shit that's not right. we'll be back as soon as the parts and $$$$$$ come together. remember that this is very hard on Shawn.......he's always prided himself on making his commitments. hang in there with us.......we will be back!
